Based in Paderno del Grappa, Treviso, CIMBA Italy is a study abroad program in Italy that offers study abroad and degree opportunities for undergraduate, MBA, and Executive-level students. Coursework focuses on American-style learning in business, leadership, journalism, communication, and engineering.
MEPOL S.R.L. Regulatory Affairs Manager Tatiana Melato, a graduate of the Class of 2015 CIMBA Italy MBA Program, greeted the group and kicked off the visit with an informative, engaging presentation that detailed the history of MEPOL and gave an overview of its manufacturing processes and products. Students, professors, and staff gleaned a wealth of information from Melato who seemed to effortlessly break down crucial business concepts to facilitate students’ learning. The presentation concluded with an illuminating Q&A session that enabled the audience to develop a better understanding of MEPOL’s innovative and sustainable plastic-bead manufacturing practices.
Following the presentation, visitors were treated to a visit to MEPOL’s testing lab, where additional knowledgeable staff members explained their plastic testing methods and introduced useful tools for testing. Due to inclement weather, a complete tour of MEPOL was not possible but Melato guided CIMBA Italy students and staff through one portion of the warehouse and plant, where they could see palettes of finished plastic orders as well as the actual machinery previously discussed in the presentation. Students’ curiosity was especially piqued by the parts of the process.
The MEPOL visit was a fantastic complement to these undergraduates’ in-classroom learning about Operations Management and Entrepreneurial Strategy and they left with valuable takeaways enhancing their comprehension of the complexity required to fill quality orders on time. It was also a great opportunity for MEPOL staff to interact with young people and conveys its core values and beliefs.
